Alternatives to A.I., digital tools, practical examples and ready to use exercises.

Learning objectives — by the end of this Module, the learner will be able to:

1. Use digital tools specifically designed for sustainability puporses.
2. Use digital tools to enrich the learning experience (applicable to any topic).
3. Explore more advanced technologies related to environmental sustainability.
4. Select the most suitable digital tool based on their students’ level and age.
5. Implement combination/multidisciplinary activities using digital tools.
6. Use our premade exercises (or adapt them) to ensure a mulidisciplinary approach to discuss environmental sustainability.

In the previous Sustedufuture+ Modules, the GreenComp and DigComp were explained and the term “transformative learning” was analyzed. We discussed ways to teach Sustainable Development and how to integrate it across curricula. In Module 6, we focused on A.I. technology: how it can be used, but also what kind of dangers it brings. Here in the final Module, we will explore other digital solutions and alternatives to A.I. for adressing sustainability challenges, alongside some practical examples.

“I’M BORED!”

Have your students’ faces ever painted that thought out loud? You know the drill – same class, same structure, (almost) same topics to cover… Teaching and learning can become boring for everyone – as well as for the educator. Digital tools, if used right, can turn into your assistants and enrich the classroom experience for all. Using collaborative, interactive tools means you can engage the students, make homework more interesting, and provoke their curiosity.

In the first section of this Module we will explore digital tools specifically made for environmental sustainability and how you can integrate them in your teaching practice (environmental mapping and geographic tools & data collection and monitoring tools), as well as some general digital tools that can make learning more fun (quiz games, collaborative tools, online meeting tools). In the second section we will explore other innovative solutions regarding waste reduction, water conservation, and natural building solutions. In the end, we will provide you with some ready-to-use exercises – feel free to modify them according to your students’ needs!
